Back to be an artist & Darth Vader Bust WIP 005



Hello guys, it's been months since I post. My life change a bit since then. After 2, almost 3, years I finally switch back to be an artist. Not coordination anymore. At MPC montreal, I was covering FX department on various movies: Xmen, Terminator: Genisys, Goosebump, Pirate of the Caribbeans, etc. But I grow a bit tired of redoing the same schedule on planning. As an artist at least it's new subject. So I'm now in 3ddmp for MPC. I sculpt environment :) Really hope the be on many movies in 2017 to grow my portfolio.

As for my personal projects, it's still going. My Nux character is on pause since I start a Darth Vader bust in CG but I plan to 3d print it and cast it for the next Montreal comic-con 2017. I have a stand there so I hope to have something to show and sell.

I plan a screen accurate Vader bust in 1:2 scale from Empire Strike Back (ESB). So mean I will have the helmet only. I don't plan the character inside even if we see i'm in the vader chamber in ESB. I will produce a very limited copy of the v1 bust and will move on to an other bust next. Here's my progress so far

Nux Character - Wip006

I added Eyebrow to the guy. Help a lot to give him more humonoid look. I also refine the headshape and add the two tumours: Larry & Berry.

I added the eyelashes (too straight need to redo them) and change my lightrig. Still Renderman inside Maya.

Nux and his Nux car

Hello guys,

First project of the year and I forgot to post it: 

Nux character and his Nux car from the latest Mad max movie

I already start 2 weeks ago on it but forgot to post the wip here (apologize)

I did post the ref before I launch my renders so maybe the details in REFS002 are not visible in the wip003

I start the refinements on the face but also add the torso. The basemesh I use is now fully scaled to the 6'2" height of the actor (I had to readjust all my cameras eheh). The body is just a blocking onthe proportion. Dont judge the detail or the size of the hands lol

I also think sharing my topology would be good at this point. Notice, I have the dense head polycount, I use to block with that amount of polygons but the original mesh I use have 4x less polygons. It's just I decide that because I would probably retopo the head any way, at least, I'm better with a semi-dense mesh to work the main shapes/details. And 54342 polygons for the head only is not what I call a dense head (even Game characters as around the same number)

Harry Potter : Lord of the Hallows - WIP 002

  I restart working a bit on him, that guy: Harry Potter. In that version nothing really change. I just add a simple rig for the head so I can bend down and make it look up to feel more dark. I need to start some hair work and add the scar next. Stay tune

Magic Door / Terminator 2 Tribute

Man, it's been a wide since I post in my blog. Need to update my status. First, I was unable to finish the last Hardcore Modeling Challenge of CGSociety.org: The Magic Door, but here's my entry.


I didn't finish it because I start a Tribute of Terminator 2. I post many "work-in-progress" on CGSociety and other 3d forums already. Here's my last WIP and the other wips so far.
